Yamini Designs' New-Build in Chicago's North Shore Wins Award for Best Bath Design

The clients for this project were two busy executives who had a toddler and were planning on expanding their family in their new-build home. They were city-dwellers but tired of the hectic pace of downtown Chicago. They migrated to the North Shore in search of a slower-paced, yet stylish life. These rooms were part of a new-build construction home, where Yamini Designs worked with the client on all aspects of the interior design and planning. From interior architectural design to finish selections, right down to furniture and accessories, we utilized the full scope of our services. We collaborated with the builder and all our vendors amid a pandemic to get the clients in their home before the birth of their second child. Yamini Designs was awarded Best Bath By A Small Firm, for the Primary Bath in this project, from the American Society of Interior Designers - Illinois Chapter

Yamini Designs Wins First Place at Chicago Gallery Walk

‘Wig Out,’ an homage to ‘60s Hollywood curated by Yamini Designs, won the first- place award for best vignette at the River North Design District (RNDD) Fall Gallery Walk. The event attracted nearly 1,000 guests to the district and featured 20 vignettes created by interior designers.

Yamini Designs was paired with Hilton/Asmus Contemporary art gallery and Casa Spazio to create a vignette in the front window of the luxury furnishings showroom.

The team at Yamini Designs was inspired by the iconic black & whites of Julian Wasser and David Gamble’s vibrant silkscreen prints to create a hip and swanky LA lounge. Incorporating a mirrored coffee table and animal print rugs lends depth, while palm leaves evoke a Californian ambiance. The chartreuse bench and vibrant hot

pink poufs provide a striking contrast against the backdrop of black and white accessories, alongside oversized prints featuring Hollywood celebrities.

Opening night at Wig Out featured a bespoke martini, retro appetizers and Bossa Nova tunes. To top it off, Julian Wasser himself, now 90 years old and still taking photos, visited the vignette and talked with Gallery Walk patrons.

“Nearly everyone who walked into our space told us they wanted to move in,” says Yamini. “That was so satisfying to hear. We couldn’t be more pleased with how our vignette turned out.”
